I'm trying to get the highest performance system for the least cost while being aesthetically pleasing.

CPU Water Blocks

I found this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/142322300764 for $12.25 lol - thats amazing. How are they making any money?

Whats the proper water block? Another user posted that the BYKSKI MTX-C has the same performance as the EK Supremacy EVO -- is that right? Anyone got a preferred buyer / link?

Pumps

Anyone hear about these pumps:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/311559742331(750 LPH / 3M head, 12v 840mA) - $14.11

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/New-Mini-Micro-12V-DC-Diaphragm-Water-Pump-Mini-Water-Pumps-1000-1200L-H-Flow-Can/32681924380.html (1000 LPH / 6M [says its height in pipe not spray height], 12v 1200mA) - $18.74 worried about the 20mm threads

http://www.ebay.com/itm/282406654278 - $11.35 (800 LPH, ?M , 12v 1050 mA) (wondering if this is the same as above..)

It seems the the "water-cooling version" of these pumps is the BYKSI SC 600 with G1/4" threads.. which is really nice -- otherwise I think I'll have to find a friend to CAD a 200mm female to G1/4 adapter and get it 3D printed.. which could be really awesome but also potentially a lot of unnecessary work.

There's also this monstrous 1500 LPH https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Two-phase-DC-brushless-pumps-booster-pumps-speed-pump-skimmer-circulation-pump-12V-24V/1113643_32662557439.html - $29

but its too big to fit inside my case.

The failsafe is the EK D5 which is ~$100 but thats no fun..

Radiator

I'm looking for either an all white or white + copper fins 420mm (140mm x 3). I cant seem to find any so looking at this 120mm x 3 .. I've seen one other user post his from taobao but he posted pics where the paint job which flaked off instantly frown.gif

The closest I can find is 240mm : https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/High-Performance-240mm-Full-Red-Copper-Slim-Water-Cooling-Radiator-Heat-Exchanger-attached-internal-disassembly-image/2346072_32764869157.html - $47

I've seen some others but they're close to $100 which at that point I'd get an EK 420mm..

I'm planning on mounting it to the top of the Phatenks Enthoo Pro so it might need to be slim since my motherboard is an SSI-EEB form factor (dual LGA2011) leave me about 40 - 60 mm of clearance to the top of the motherboard and RAM if I shift the motherboard and CPU power cables.

Reservoir

I might have to "splurge" for one of these helix reservoirs wink.gif

https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Bykski-50-X-260mm-T-Virus-Water-Cooling-Reservoir-Water-Tank-With-LED-Light-Blue-Red/2346072_32727138111.html - $49

https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Barrow-alloy-plates-multi-color-t-virus-water-cooled-cylindrical-blue-spiral-suspension-tank-205MM-Blue/2346072_32721747904.html - $52

Temp Sensor plugs

Whats the difference between these two temp plugs besides depth -- I mean how does the depth affect the usage?

https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/G1-4-Water-Cooling-Blank-Nozzle-Plug-With-10K-Sensor-Blue-White-Silver/2346072_32704942194.html - $4

https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/G1-4-Water-Cooling-Blank-Nozzle-Plug-With-10K-Sensor-Blue-White-Silver/2346072_32712116208.html $5

I'm thinking use the deep one at the top of a res where its harder to touch the coolant and the shorter one in-line where theres no air gap.

Total

Plus tubing and fittings - I think I can get a full build for dual LGA2011 for about $175 shipped.

Right now I'm on a GTX960 and the fans dont even spin up when gaming so I'll add in GPU once I can find a GTX1080 Ti that isnt massively overpriced.

Do I spy an Enthoo Pro thumb.gif

For the waterblock, I used this one for a friends build. Performance is great and so are the aesthetics and price.

I haven't seen any 140 rads, but there are a couple 3x120 rads in white I've been watching, this and this.

There were a few D5 clones floating around but they're gone from my wishlist now. They were around $35. I've been looking at these pumps as alternatives.

If you're going to go for the helix res, get the barrow version. The other one lists aluminum in materials and I'm guessing that would be the end caps where the fluid touches. Best to stick with the plastic on barrow.

Are you doing hard tubing or soft?

Sweet. I'll try to find one with white / silver bracket + acrylic top.

I saw those last night but for ~ $70 shipped, the performance / price is questionable, especially when I'm not getting my preference, which is something like this: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/360mm-fin-copper-computer-water-discharge-liquid-heat-exchanger-radiator-for-12cm-fan-TSRP-ZT360/32783719214.html

There's also this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/172464766243 - $70 shipped from the US (360mm slim)

Though I guess once I put the fans on it wont really be visible.. but still!

This looks like a Liang DDC clone. Switching the output from right angle to the top gives a 10-15% immediate boost in performance: http://martinsliquidlab.petrastech.com/DDC32PumpTopTesting.html

If you see one with a top like that do share!!

I was thinking the same thing but for BARROW brand vs house brand - don't really have any feedback on their quality. Any particular reason for the wariness of the aluminium end caps? If its mixed metal issue I was planning on using distilled water + anti-freeze.

updated the original post because I forgot about this: 7/16" ID soft flexible tubing. Since this is my first build figured it would be easier.

That first rad you linked looks a lot like the airplex series that use round tubes instead of flat. The round tubes perform much worse than the standard flat tubes, so I would recommend the second option since it looks like a standard rad.

That pump top has 2 inlets and 2 outlets, one of each on top and sides, (one of each is capped off in the pic) if thats what you meant.

The corrosion with mixed metals was my only concern with the res. For tubing, I would suggest pick the fittings you like first, then get tubing to match. You may have issues finding fittings for that size, unless you already had some.

And welcome to watercooling! thumb.gif

No, I don't have anything to use them on atm. I just used the 2 darkside rads I had already for my pedestal upgrade.

I brought a GPU block for my 1080 TI and it pretty good IMO, decent build quality for the price.

Comes with thermal pad for the memory and VRM, plus it RGB biggrin.gif just don't expect any installation instruction.
Idle around 29 C and full load around 46 C, ambient temp around 26.
