Need Help Tracking Location of Old Bitcoins

Thread Starter
I was looking through some old emails/transactions and it looks like I have around 9 BTC left. The bad news is, I don't know which wallet I stored them in, online or local. Through Blockchain, I was able to track down the (address). Would this give any insight to the wallet's location? I also have a browser screenshot from when I purchased them, but the background tabs are blurred and the logos aren't giving me any clues. I've emailed MtGox to see if I have an account with them, but I honestly don't think I bought from there. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance everyone!
P.S. Not sure if this is the best subforum for this thread.

Try looking to see if you have an account on some of the popular exchanges: Mt. Gox, BTC-e, Coinbase or Bitstamp. Also, search to see if you have a "wallet.dat" file on your PC, or somewhere you would have backed it up to. (USB stick, email, Dropbox, etc.) If you don't have a wallet.dat file, then there's a chance you had a wallet with blockchain.info - see if you have any emails from them on an email you use(d) a lot (back when you bought the coins) and take it from there.

how did you pay for the bitcoins? bank account? cc? paypal?

how you paid can really narrow down where your coins are. i know for most people, paying with a bank account means coinbase, paypal means second life, etc.

hope you find those coins!
