Toshiba 46L5200U - Worth $500?

Thread Starter
This is a 46" 120hz TV, I am amazed by how much more affordable it is to the competition. And it's brand name too so why is this 46L5200U TV so cost effective? Is it cutting some serious corners?

I currently have a Toshiba Regza 42HL167 and it's been great over the years aside from a few things. Screen burn is pretty apparent, after leaving the TV on with a game for 5-10 minutes, those pixels will stay there for a while until they fade out again. Also, one of my HDMI ports is shot with edges discoloured, but to be fair I washed it with Windex (bad!) and made that mistake that I will never repeat again. How is Toshiba in terms of quality for HDTVs? Will the screen burn be a problem with the 46L5200U?

Am I going to lose anything with the 46L5200U compared with my existing 42HL167? More accurate colours, contrast ratio, noticeable loss in ppi, etc.? I'd imagine that the 120Hz would be great for gaming, not exactly sure how good or bad the 46L5200U "smooth" feature is. Will this improve the framerate on Wii U, Xbox One, and PS4 games? I'm not expecting improved framerates with video but who knows. I guess it depends on how the video is made? Would Blu ray be any different?

Thanks!

Can't help you with the other questions, but one important thing is to make sure the tv accepts 120hz input.

About the smooth feature, I don't think that's going to help, probably just adds to response time.
