Well a lot of boards will set x16 lanes to x8 when a dual GPU configuration is detected. So the second slot staying at x8 even if you set it to x16 isn't worrisome

The first slot being at x1 however, definite issue. You're probably looking at a motherboard RMA, as it's most likely that the slot's gone bad.

It's a Asus Sabertooth Z77.

I flew it from Japan to Florida, so I likely blew out that slot with the jolting. Got a new board in route now..haha
