Well I bought a 1 bay Synology Diskstation and a 1 TB WD Red HDD for my house and my roommates (a.k.a. mom and dad). I bought it with the intention of using it as cloud storage for my dad's documents because he is disabled and needs a laptop on every floor of the house and as you might know, transferring documents from laptop to laptop and keeping the files organized and in sync with each other is not the easiest of tasks. I have a laptop and a gaming computer, so we have 5 PCs. I thought he was somewhat computer savvy since he has an old programming degree, but he has not been able to figure this thing out and I just end up copying and pasting his documents onto a flash drive. My mom only knows how to look up Fire Mountain Gems and Hobby Lobby on the internet and print coupons to the basement printer. So I am basically the only one using it. And I only use it for pictures of my sister's kids and some game saves. I disconnected it last week to make room for the Christmas tree and I am beginning to think that I have absolutely no use for it anymore. I am not going to get rid of it because it is a nice thing to have. So what kinds of things do you guys think would make it worth anything for me? I don't pirate anything so holding movies and music is out of the question. Plus everything looks better on Blu Ray anyways. Synology has very nice software support for it and I installed the Plex Media Server onto it, but I really don't know how to use the program or what I would even need it for. I have a PS3 and 2 Roku players. Other than keeping hundreds of baby pictures and a few game saves (which Steam can do now with their cloud making my use for it that much less needed), I have no idea what to use it for. And please don't make it sound like I am a spoiled kid who has this nice electronic and no need for it. My father bought it for me in June and he wanted the family to use it, but that never happened. And it was $300 for everything so I need to find a way to get my money's worth out of it.
