what to do ?

i have an i5 2500k with an evo212 cooler and from the start it was running at the stock speed of 3.3 ghz so i recently switched to 4.2 and it was running normaly for a month now...went to bios earlier and checked out the cpu temp on idle(i would guess) and it showed a whopping 70 c ,then i switched back to regular and it went down significently,also when i turn the boost on it jumps like crazy ,that cant be normal if i have an evo212 can it? especially if playing bf4 i would imagane it would be even more

these are the curent temps after i switched to normal,so can i still go to 4.2 or do i need a better cooler?

The temps that you're seeing in Real Temp tell me that you may be getting an incorrect reading in the BIOS. So, run Prime95 for a few seconds with Real Temp open.

before i did that i checked the temps in bios and it read 45c so i dunno...
i did run prime95 but i need to let it run for a day so that didnt help...

It's not necessary to run Prime95 for a day just to check temps. Run it for a few seconds. If the temps stay at safe levels, then let it run for 10 minutes and then you'll get an approximate maximum temp for Prime95. Then you will know whether or not the BIOS is giving you an incorrect reading.

 

Next time you post screenshots, can you post bigger ones (like the full resolution that you're using)? Or maybe use Alt+Print Screen to capture just Real Temp. Alt+Print Screen is a Windows trick.

Oh. If you press Alt+Print Screen, then it will capture just the active window (the one that's currently in focus).

 

Those are just idle readings, and so they're basically meaningless. Run Prime95 for a few seconds. If the temps seem safe, then let it continue for 5-10 minutes while keeping an eye on the temps just in case. After about 10 minutes, you'll know what your full-load temps are, and then we can judge it properly. Otherwise, we're just wasting time.
