Lapped CPU and AS5 - higher temps?

After lapping, replaced the Zalman thermal paste with AS5, put it all on, and get 2-5C higher temps than before...
Anyone else experienced this?

Most probably because you didnt seat it right, or maybe too much/too little AS5.

Have you tried reseating it just incase?

Not yet, just booted up :-)
Paste laid a tail around the center blob, could it be air?

When u lap u should put a lot less AS5 because the micro ridges are smaller and dont need that much more thermal paste.

IT could be, but let it run 24 hours or so first to settle. See what happens. Its only 5C so its nothing drastic, think it would be more if there was an air pocket.

After lapping and AS5, the 9700 is quite easy to move, even though it's fully screwed on...

how much AS5 did you put? people say if your cpu and hsf is lapped you have to put a really really small amount of AS5.

edit: after i lapped my cpu/9700, my 9700 was a lot easier to twist around. its like its floating or something...i dont know if thats the way it should be
