BSOD only on shutdown - help!

post #1 of 7
Thread Starter
Hello guys! I am getting the following BSOD with windows 7 64bit on the last stage of shutdown "0x0000000a IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL". I do not however get memory dump or kernel memory dump with this crash. However I do get a memory dump file when I manually force a crash!!!
I have the following system:
MB - Maximus VI hero with the latest bios 1002;
CPU - 4670K on stock speeds;
Video - Asus HD6950 2GB,
2x8GB GEIL EVO POTENZA at 2400 MHz and 1.65v (XMP enabled – 11, 13, 13, 30, 2t);
128GB Samsung 840 pro for system drive and 2x1tb WD black caviar in raid 0 for storage;
PSU is a modular 700W Chieftec
I run IRST 12.8.0.1016 if it’s relevant
The system is 100% stable during operation – no crashes or any problems under really heavy load – I am using it for almost a month now! The only problem is that when I do a normal shutdown with the start menu 1 out of 3-4 times) the system will crash at the very last stage of the shutdown process giving me the mentioned BSOD. I have tried running the memory at stock, I have tested the memory with memtest, I reinstalled windows, I have all the latest drivers. I cleared CMOS, flashed BIOS again and ran the pc at defaults – no help! I started a thread in the ROG forum http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?40535-BSOD-quot-0x0000000a-Hero and the guys there are really trying to help me out but no solution have been found as of this moment.

I will be very grateful if you give me some suggestions what to try next because I really can’t use the system that way – it’s very painful to wait for 4-5 minutes turning on and off the pc while it manages to completely shutdown.
Thanks!

run a memtest from windows memory diagnostic to see if that could be the problem

I did both memtest and memory diagnostic and no problems detected. Do you think the PSU (being not so new) could be the reason for the crashes? Or is it more likely a mobo problem?
Thanks!
