GTX 580 conflicting brands?

Hey guys,
Looking to restore my outdated beast from the dead. Currently have an EVGA GeForce gtx 580 in her. The 1.5gb model.
My question is am I required to purchase the exact model to crossfire or can I use a gtx 580 from a different brand. Or can I even use the super clocked evga version which is 3gb... Without confliting issues. Thanks

You can use different brands. If you do use differently clocked cards though, or if you use cards that have different amounts of vRAM, your cards will run at the speed of the slowest card and will only be able to use as much vRAM as the card with the lowest amount in the SLI setup.

But the simple answer is yes, you can mix brands.

Yes.

Have you considered upgrading to a 780? ( sell your 580)

Sorry, I would rather purchase cards at 150 a piece rather than 500+.

I game on a 23inch Alienware 120Hz... 1920x1080... Using 2 or even three of these gtx 580s, I cannot see where the requirements of running video games would surpass the power of them, if so, then maybe i will get 780's.
