GameOS: Is it worth it? - Page 3

Litestep is a nice shell, with a TON of great themes. But a lot of them dont hide when playing games, that means that your start bar and any widgets pop up during gaming: teh suck.

Downloading SharpE now.

A friend recomended it to me, but I had bad experiences with BlackBox, so I didn't bother. Guess I go for it.

Any way to un-do this? I uninstalled it already, but I can't get anything but the Windows Classic thingy. It's sooooo ugly...

Click set explorer as default and restart.

@Pook: Tell me your results with SharpE. I just reformatted.

If Chipp AND you say its good, then it must be pretty good. Benchies would be nice.

Another plus: Unlike Windows, all my systray icons show up! Now I can tell without opening up Task Manager whats running!

Seeing as I how I recommended several alternate shells earlier should I say "You're Welcome"?

Litestep generally doesn't do that like it used to. With the new updates, a new OTS, etc. it should work fine. If it doesn't auto hide, you can usually hide it yourself, if the theme supports it.

Sure thing, my very un-customized SharpE is coming right up.

Some very cool rollover effects on the icons, I'm realy liking this.

No themes yet Chipp? Take a look around customize.org, deviantart.com and litestep.net.

Don't forget to post in their forums when looking for specific themes. Many times, authors send their themes to individuals who request them and don't actually upload it at one central place.

I would upload some of my litestep themes but I'm a huge desktop customization nut. So I'm constantly changing stuff. I never finish something because I usually move on to something new.

I posted the above ^ before you posted the screenshots, that's why I mentioned litestep. If you want SharpE stuff, you just have to dig in. There isn't too much to do with the stock installation. They made it open source a while back though. I was using it back in the day, think 2002.

That was my typo, I'm using SharpE not Litestep. I'm assuming Deviant will have themes for it, too, as they have everything.
