HD 280 Pro vs Audio-Technica ATH-M30

I bought Sennheiser HD 280's at Fry's a couple days ago for $98, but I just saw the Audio-Technica ATH-M30 for $48 on Amazon. I was wondering if the 280's are ~$50 better than the audio-technicas?

I'm no audiophile and never had a good set of headphones. The 280's sound amazing but I find them very uncomfortable. Specifically, they hurt my left ear for some reason. (My old $40 Sony headphones did the same thing)

Edit: Also, I have the Asus Xoner DG sound card.

This isn't even a question. The HD280s are much better than the M30s.

Sure, the 280's are better than the AT...but in terms of comfort they are awful.

I asking, if I were to look for comfort and maybe but a cheaper set of headphones, are the 280's really worth the extra $50?
