Suggestion on fans?

Thread Starter
I'm thinking about replacing the fans in my case, Thermaltake Armor, and the fan on my big typhoon. Ive checked around some review sites, and the forums here, and seem to of pretty much narrowed it down to the Silverstone FM121(http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16811999344) or Thermaltake Thunderblade(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16811999139).

I dont really care about the led, so thats not an issue. I would like the fans to be quiet, but still have decent airflow. The fans that are in the case are TT1225, which from what I can find, do a max of 41CFM, so I think either of these should be a good step up?

Fans I will have: 1 120mm in front, 1 120mm in rear, 250mm fan in side of case window thing. 1 80mm in rear-next to psu, above 120mm(might end up removing this, not sure), 1 80mm in top(may end up removing this too, doesnt seem to move hardly any air at all)

I was also looking at getting a fan controller, to keep these fans quiet. I'd mostly just be concerned with limiting the noise of the 120's in front and back, the side fan is quiet already, and the cpu fan I think i'd pretty much want going 100% anyway.

For a fan controller, im thinking about
Thermaltake XCONTROLLER(http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16811999137)
VANTEC NXP-205(http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16813999504)
or SILVERSTONE SST-FP52(http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16813999351)

Any suggestions here of which might work out best?

I've heard silverstones for quite quiet. HOWEVER, the most quiet fans (highest CPM/dba ratio) are Panaflo's.

Haha, if you want a quiet fan don't even look at the FM121! Mines loud, but very fast, I a can sacrafice quietness for airflow and I would say that the BT and a fm121 is a good combo.

One thing to consider about "quiet" fans is, all fans have a different sound. It's why I like going to Sidewinder's Computers website and use their sound room. That way I can tell the pitch of the fan, as a fan can be quiet or loud but still have an annoying whine.

These Vantec Spectrums move 32cfm of air, but despite being quiet 30/32decibels, the whir can be annoying (my case sounds like factory machinery).

Greetings, In my experience the Silverstone's have had the best performance results insofar as dBa to cfm ratios.

The Thunderbaldes move alot of air, but sound like a Harrier lifting off when on high-speed. The Panaflo's are nice also, but have a pitch (sound, not fan angle) that is grating to me.

The FM121's are great...
