Yeah this was my first build with a pico PSU sff. I was intrigued by AMD claim of 1080p gaming on the 7850k. Outside of temperature it hasn't disappointed.

I have the Gigabyte board and I couldn't get any of the low profile ram I bought to clear dual so I edged down some of the fins with a dremel. I would be interested to see if the AMD ram would clear. I have a 5800k I'm going to do the same mods with as well.

Awesome build my friend. Wish I would've seen this before I put bullet holes in my lid lol.

what low profile ram did you buy?

I bought the ADATA 2133MHZ 8GB kit and the Silicon Power 2400mhz 8gb Kits. Neither would clear the Kozuti on my Gigabyte board. I am going to put the Kozuti I filed down on my sons 5800k and give him the ram from my board now. I will put a new Kozuti on this build and purchase the AMD Ram kit if it clears the gigabyte board.

I drilled holes directly over the CPU cooler then reversed a fan on the cooler to pull out the hot air. That dropped the temps dramatically. I was playing Bioshock Infinite on low-medium above 30fps with about 55 load tempearature.

I did tweak the fans to work slight above Normal through Bios.

at 2133 there aren't many low profile ram. Your best bet is
Corsair Vengeance LP which has a height of 1.03"" (26.25mm).
which is the one I have right now (CML8GX3M2A2133C11B)

or the G.Skill Ares low profile are a little taller at (32mm) tall but what I don't like is the voltage 1.65
so I went with corsair that are 1.5 volts.

Just compare with the ram you have already but I don't think the amd are gonna be lower in height

I wish I would have found this thread earlier!. I am doing a similar build with the Streacom case and a 7850k. My only major obstacle is gaming at 1080p the temps were ridiculous and caused me to shutdown. I have the same cooler with a 100mm scythe fan on top. Once I put the lid I couldn't get the temps low enough. What temps were you seeing? Are you having gaming on it?

Thanks again!

Its more then likely just an issue with how the slots are placed on the Gigabyte board. I believe he went with an Asrock on final build. The reason I didnt switch boards was I got an 7850k on sale at Microcenter for 110 and the board was a return as well for 60. I may look into the Asrock board and just give my son the Gigabyte board to pair up with his 5800k. The corsair vengeance is not an option. It is ridiculously overpriced when I last priced. AMD ADATA KINGSTON SILICONE Power all were around the 100-110 mark and the Vengeance LP was I believe 140-160.

on amazon the corsair CML8GX3M2A2133C11B are $103. I have the gigabyte GA-F2A88XN-WIFI board too.
I will try and get you some photos with corsair install, im pretty sure you shouldn't have any problems with height.
Im still deciding on the case biggrin.gif

patriot extreme low profile are 37mm tall

If you want low profile, grab some of this:
http://www.amazon.com/Crucial-Ballistix-Tactical-DDR3-1600-BLT2C4G3D1608ET3LX0/dp/B00A14ZT8S

Also runs at 1.35V so there should be room to clock it up higher.

Hmmm, they really should offer the PSU in a modular version. Would really help with cable management.

It always amazes me that a computer smaller than my power supply, can run BF4. Great work my friend! thumb.gif

its better to buy 2133 for kaveri , no need to overclock memory if there is 2133 already and low profile
post #140 of 146
Changed to Corsair Dominator GT 2000mhz CL9 memory, no height issues at the moment but I'm still using the stock cooler.
