Changing RAM, change BIOS Settings?

Thread Starter
Newbie here. Quick question! In my past experiences, all I did was pop in RAM and it was GTG. Then someone told me I have to change BIOS settings to the correct speed, and or voltage etc.

I basically ordered a complete computer from CyberPower and ordered the RAM I intend to add to it.

The computer I'm going to receive has Kingston Hyper X 1600MHz 4GB of RAM. Would I need to change any BIOS settings going from that to 16GB of Corsair Dominator Platinum 1600 MHz?

Thanks for your time and answers.

There is a chance the default profile defaults to 1333Mhz, all you have to do is Activate the XMP Profile in the Bios,
or manually set the speed to 1600Mhz, set the DRam Voltage, and perhaps manually adjust the timings.

But essentially just plug them in and boot up the computer, then you can use CPU-Z to see if its working on the correct speeds/timings.

Just reset CMOS to clear DMI data then set XMP profile in bios.
