tongue.gif I tend to play only "lore friendly" mods so pretty much just mods that only expand on vanilla mechanics and lore and don't seem completely out of place. Mods like extended ships which expand the vanilla ship's amount of space, but not by an extreme amount like other mods.

But yes, to each their own. smile.gif Even if you're a vanilla only kind of person, though, there are still quite a few mods I'd suggest for the above reason.

Just picked the game up. Having a good time so far, just grinding trying to figure out what to do.

Just a little warning to the both of you.. There will be a character wipe fairly soon that's coming with the next update which should be out within the next couple weeks. However, said update is going make it so no future character wipes are necessary so it will be the last character wipe for the game. smile.gif

I've played Starbound for about 15 hours and I feel like that I've exhausted everything that the game has to offer. It suffers from the same problem that Terraria had. It's just a big ore grinding fest to rank up through the world. I hope that this is just because it's in early beta. I can't help but feel worried that this is how it will be. It is such a core gameplay mechanic after all.

There has to be a better way of progressing through a game like this besides grinding out ore.

The quests haven't been implemented yet that's why it feels like that. I stopped playing and will play again until they finish it.

Right now it's REALLY easy to get to the X sector that's why it feels like everything is there already which they are. But once the game enters the final phases it'll be a lot more enjoyable once the contents are complete.

So far the core gameplay is there, it's the little details that they need to keep the game interesting.

It is because the game is in such an early stage of the beta and it will have a better sense of progression as time goes on with, as mentioned above, quests, more story elements, better incentives to explore other planets, etc. The team seems to be very open to community suggestions as well so that will help.

As it is, 60% of the progression is hardly even there. After you beat the 4th boss, you can pretty much skip every other tier until you make your way up to Impervium. It's not going to stay like that.

Pretty much what I'm saying is the game has a long way to go before it's finish and by that time, it will be quite different from what it is now.

Thanks for the warning and information. I was avoiding playing this too much due to the resets. It seems like after this next reset, I won't have to hold back too much.
