What happened to the MSI 990FX GD80 board (and the 990FX boards in general)

The MSI board appears to be "discontinued" at all the etailers?!?!? I'm planning an FX build next year after tax time, looks like I'll only be able to get ASUS, ASROCK, or Giga boards :-\

Actually, like the first 3 or 4 e-tailers on pcpartpicker came up as discontinued.

There is another place that has them also.

It is surprising that MSI is abandoning AMD just when it seems the anger over their older boards is fading. The GD80 is solid.

The Gigbyte boards all have clunky bios and the Asrocks don't have a good reputation for overclocking, which leaves ASUS as the only way to go anymore.

I heards somewhere that the GD80 BIOS is super nerfed, despite the features.

Nothing buggy with the bios. However It does have a limit on the Vcore that requires the use of a proprietary utility from MSI to go around it. Unlike the utilities i have used from Asrock, or ASUS which are pretty awful - MSI's control center is excellent. Just double check your settings before you apply them and you will be fine. If you have 1.9 volts in the cpu tab when you apply the settings , thats what it will get.
As a bonus, it even works well with CnQ enabled, which in my case allows a downclock to 1.4 ghz at idle and a full 8 core 5ghz when loaded.

Some don't like the lack of LLC on the board, but once you understand how to manage that, you are much better off without it in my opinion.

Eh? What is wrong with the bios? And which bios version is bad? What do I not know?
