Gota cheap OEM Opteron 165 to play with!

Thread Starter
I just recieved it today from newegg for $130 and overclocked it to 2.85ghz in the last 30min. I've been running orthos for about a hour and the Core temp is hitting 50C sometimes with the Vcore at 1.365. I'm not sure what the embient temp is right now but I know its over 75F right now. This is also the first time I really got to push my ram. Its at 510mhz at 2.65v. So far its workin pretty well.

oh the stepping is CCBBE 0615DPMW

Since I just installed it and the as5 has to cure I expect higher temps but how hot can these opteron 165's get before they die?

Where'd you find the OEM opty? I only see retail and open box ones.

yeah when I just now looked I noticed that too..

I bought mine about 2 days after Christmas and it just got here today because of the holidays. But they must have taken it off the site..
That sucks because it was a deal! You didn't have to buy the sink with it and free shiping and no tax. I knew they where goin fast but i didn't think it was gona be that fast.

I love the fact I paid 35 dollars more for it and I didn't want the stock heatsink!

yeah I agree about the heat sink. I already have watercooling and extra heat sinks lying around so I figure why pay for another. I checked the reviews to make sure they where good stepping before I bought a oem.

I'm trying to benchmark in 3d mark 06 but its giving me a device error.. This is the first time i've seen this..

I found out the 3d mark problem. It was system driver related. So I fixed it and its working now but im only getting 15fps were I should be getting 31-32fps. So back to the drawing board. Im gona uninstall and try it over again..

beret, if you ordered from newegg I'll bet you get a ccbbe 061xxxxx. You could end up with a 0615, 0610, 0617, from the reviews I read on there.

EDIT: omg my computer is fritzing out. first it was a bootsector earlyer this afternoon then 3dmark06 was acting up now the the VGA controler driver is acting up. times like this is when I wana throw a brick through the case window..
