on an hp 1019h.

its nothing great but with a program I want to run, I would like dual monitors. would this support that in any way? great graphics not too important. I am not a gamer. I went to ebay and man oh man are there alot to choose from. WHAT CARD SHOULD I GET?

while i'm add it what ram should i get?

as you can tell not good with the puters when it comes to whats under the hood. also noone around here (to include the one store can help me)

i don't even know if thats my motherboard, just that others say hp used that in my setup. also some in my control panel it says gma graphic and express chipset family. whats this all mean? i can't find motherboard name.

thanx all

Fill in your system specs under User CP.

Tell us what type of interface you have: AGP, PCIe-x16, etc. so we can help you find the best card in your price range.

I Googled that model number. What I saw was a board with 3-PCI slots (these should be white), and 1-PCIe slot (this should be black and near the center of the board, set further back than the PCI slots). Any PCIe video card would be fine for you. You can get a really cheap one, or you could throw some money at it and get a 7600GS or something like that.

This is what I found when I searched the model number you gave.

If that is correct, something like this would be a nice video card for you.

where did my post go? lol. I made a nice post about what integrated graphics were, and to get whatever card fit into your motherboard.

Anyways....most any pci-e card will do (apparently)

Just get like...a 6600GT or something...they are nice cards.

If you are not a gamer, and do not care about the latest and greatest, just get any video card with 2 monitor ports (a 6600GT would be a good solution). If you need VGA as opposed to DVI, at least 1 adapter is included with most of these cards. In my expierence, EVGA usually includes 2 DVI -> VGA adapters with their cards (if the card has 2x DVI out)..

Yes, the ebay link would work. You might want something with just a little more power, though. That card is a PCI, not PCIe. You can use either PCI or PCIe.

Look in your case and see if your motherboard looks like that. That board he linked to looks like it might have come from an HP. So a 7600GT is really nice, they cost around $100 on Newegg. However, you can get a REALLY cheap Asus X300 for around $35, too Just make sure it's PCIe-x16. I am putting that Asus in a friend's build. It can do dual monitors as long as you have one DVI monitor and one VGA, or buy an adapter.
