Win 8.1 x64 Pro shows my 2500K at 6.08 GHz?

Hey guys,

I've recently noticed something strange.

For some reason, the Performance tab in Windows 8.1's Task Manager shows my 2500K which is overclocked to 4.5 GHz is running at 6.08 GHz:

While I would love to have this speed, it's simply not correct...

Does anyone have a clue why?

Simple mis-calculated reading. Nothing to worry about. A few programs get it wrong, but that's natural. It'll most likely get updated down the line at some point on how it reads CPU information. Overclocks for some reason can throw off the usual reading method, even if it's just popping up the multiplier a few.

Thanks

I'd like to hear if someone else is experiencing this as well with 8.1?
Yup.

It thinks my 5Ghz i7 2600K runs 4.84Ghz. CPU-Z reads correctly so.. I don't really worry all that much.

When I went testing max multi on this chip on 2C2T it actually thought that x56 5600Mhz was 6.44Ghz so..
