Microcenter as far as I know offer the best prices on CPU's. Especially "K" series on both intel and AMD. Have a look here on microcenters ad.

This is MC's price....what will it be everywhere else? At best, $179.99 everywhere else too.

Yeah, and look what retailers did when R9 stock got low thanks to demand.

280x still going for $400+ on newegg.

The only place that has them reasonably priced is shopblt (oddly enough), and even then they're all backordered and you're going to have to wait.

I just don't know if AMD is going to have that sort of demand. The other thing we're not accounting for is GloFo yields on 28nm. The chips might be priced high because the process is immature and AMD simply doesn't have the chips to sell at a low price.

I was contemplating getting a 7850k or 7700, but Richland is going to end up significantly cheaper. But I did want a Steamroller to play with in Gentoo and stuff.

This is just for AMD prices but most of them are higher than what I can find at most e-tailers.

The process should be fairly mature and the chip should've been in production for a while meaning they know their average current yields per wafer. And they had to pay for those wafers anyway we all know they rather pay a little extra for chips than pay something for nothing at all. thumb.gif

This thing better have something special up its sleeve to justify that price. If the 6800k is $140 or less, this IMO shouldn't be more that $160. 1 month ago I would have said the 7850k will be $150 and the 6800k would drop to $120.

It's higher than what was "rumored" isn't it?

A10-7700K costs less though wink.gif and the A8-7600 should cost considerably less. Thing being you will get less GCN cores. the A10-7800's and such that actually do have 512GCN cores might also come at a lower price.
