I have been playing with overclocking tools on my 3-year old Sony laptop with Radeon Mobility HD 5470. The latest AMD GPU clock tool is able to set the GPU core and memory core clock. However, once I set the clocks, then I see in my open hardware monitor that the GPU and Memory are always running at that clock rate, even when idle. Is that the intention of this tool? I would have preferred if there was an option for underclocking when the GPU is not used by games.
