Yes, gtx 690 should do the job for you. the 4gb or ram the card has would be lovely. Just keep in mind if you do get a gtx 690 or even a 290 that your psu is sufficient to handle the power.

The 690 is NOT a 4gb card, regardless of 4gb being physically present, only 2gb is usable!

The 290 is a far superior card for the resolutions he is trying to play at, and has an actual usable 4gb of ram, and a much beefier bus. I would not recommend a GTX690 for anything but 1080p or lower.

Only 2GB is usable on the 690. It's basically two 2GB 680s on one card. Physically there's 4GB (like 680SLI) however, you can only use 2GB (like 680SLI).
