I figure that since everyone was having issues getting 8900's now, everyone's cards could be better utilized BOINC'ing vice folding until Stanford gets their act together.

Stanford isn't going to change anything.  We were just spoiled for months, now things are back to normal.

There's still that issue of a 680 having better compute in folding than a 580 tho

Well I'll see how things go for the next couple days. If core 17's aren't back my Monday morning for me I'm switching my folding computer over to BOINC, I'm completely fed up with the F@H program itself, if it isn't closed correctly all the time it requires a re-install, I've probably had to do this at least 20 times in the last 6 months, it's a real pain. If they want me to donate my computing power to them they better have a well-coded and easy to use program, it seems harder and harder to use FAH, with this newfangled web control garbage.

Um, you do know you never have to use the web control correct?

You should also never have to reinstall the client.  I've been using 7.3.6 since it came out, and don't have any issues, and I exit it all the time.

One thing you do need to do for it to work absolutely how you want it to is edit the config.xml file whenever you want to make changes.  Using the GUI to make changes simply does not work well.

I don't use the web interface, it just sort of annoys me that it opens right off the bat after installation, it seems they keep the main program a secret almost.

I don't edit things in the GUI when I have to reinstall, I always have an infinite "connecting" status if I log off unexpectedly or a power failure occurs, it's really quite a pain. The only fix I've found to this is to reinstall.

You can make the web control interface go away completely.

Right-click your Folding@home shortcut, properties, then in the Target field delete the part that says "open-web-control".  Says Beetlejuice three times, and try launching it.

Hmm, I dunno, you could probably just clear out your data dir if a WU gets in a funky state rather than reinstalling.  Maybe not, I'm not sure, I don't run into that issue.

I keep seeing people complaining about having issues with the client. I've yet to experience any. I run the V7 client on over 10 machines and none of them have ever needed a reinstall or anything. FAHControl and their choice in configuration is a joke, but it always works.

Assigning static GPU slots for multi-vendors does not work within the FAHControl GUI.  I know this for fact as I have 4 GPUs in my box right now.  To get the correct 2 I want folding I had to edit the config.xml.
