alright i gotta few suggestions for you atomic. The 6600 is gonna really need to some vcore because when i tested your 6600 i really didn't want to push it so i kept everything as mild as i could. My board has next to no vdroop after i did the vdroop mod on it and that really helped stability. However, my 6600 will get to 3.6 with really low voltage but after that i have to crank it up to 1.55 to hit 3.8 and above. So I think you are running into the same problem as me. Also, i really suggest you lap the 6600's lid, the curve made temps around 60 load at 3.6 but once i lapped it, it dropped down to 51. Also, when you reseat the block, see where the AS5 has made contact with the cpu, if it is like mine was there will only be contact points in the middle of the block, the rest of the AS5 was untouched. Also, the NB will affect overclocking results, after putting on the Swiftech NB block it went from over 100 load to about 47-49. It also let me hit the 4ghz mark finally. I have a spare one if you wanna buy it, lightsource is contacting me.

Well I think I need a active NB heatsink with this chipset, its running pretty hot right now. But thanks for those suggestions.

Also Storm, is that 51C on water or air? Cause I was getting like 60+C on water. I know the VDroop is alot, but I just turned up the volts a little more, to compensate.

I am getting like 43C right now at stock clocks, running 2 instances of F@H.

I am running watercooling and if you are getting temps like that at stock clocks, something is definately up! I get close to 30-32 running dual FAH at stock clocks! I really recommend looking at where the CPU is making contact with the WB by looking where the Arctic is all messed up. I dunno if im making sense, ill rephrase if you need to. But when i tested that CPU is wasn't even close to getting that hot at full load even with orthos. And that was on a BT!

which is more effective, a 1:1 divide or a 4:5 with the ram speeds higher?

yea idk, its a pain in the ass thats all I know. I am gonna try to spread it around evenly over the IHS and see what that does, Tried the blob in the middle, then the line down the middle (yes I went the right way)

Atleast my ram is really cool, thats about the only thing in this rig right now.

dbl post, but Roscoe, I tried everything you said but its a no go, also I can't disable the vanderpool thing, its greyed out for some reason, and the speedstep thing isn't even a listed option.

Dont put to little AS5 on it or else the HSF wont even touch the center of the die. That happened when i tried installing my Tuniq tower 120. Then one of my thumbscrews broke . But dont put to little AS5!!

Alright I am gonna try to reseat the block and while I am at it, see how concave the IHS really is. Hope its not too bad. Other wise I might be lapping this thing tonight.

Don't worry about vanderpool, it's not what's holding you back. It's just a feature of the cpu that almost noone uses, so alot of people disable it. Speedstep isn't your problem either, that just allows the cpu to drop it's multi automatically, and slow down when it's idle. It's just like a power saving kind of feature, shouldn't stop your OC. Most OC'ers just disable it, I know I don't want it. I wouldn't worry if it's greyed out or gone, maybe the new bios disables it, or some other bios setting is causing it to be unavailable. Good riddance anyway.

Did you try what I said about dropping the multi? Are you sure now it's your cpu walling? It should be I'm thinking. Guess you have some temps to tackle looks like also. What's your vcore at now? Do you know what others with same cooling and vcore as you, are getting for temps? These cpu's do run pretty hot once you go well over 1.4vcore, even with good cooling. Even my Typhoon almost feels like it's not enough. My temps aren't bad, but I'd like something better soon, just not sure I want water. I'm kinda waiting for the next kick butt air cooler, or maybe get a Tuniq. These C2D's respond very well to vcore increases for OC, but it also raises temp quite a bit at the same time. Or maybe a good lapping will help things, but then like you said there's no returning it.

Oh, and that cover on the NB, you can just peel it off. It's pretty sticky, but it will come off. I took mine off too, stupid thing. And ya, the NB will run pretty dam hot without moving air. Even though it's hot though, it doesn't mean it's failing your OC necessarily. I haven't upgraded my NB sink, a case fan gives it some air, it's warm but not bad. Btw, when you leave NBcore volts in bios to auto, it will scale up it's volts automatically with your OC. You could try setting it manually, see if it gives better temps. I just leave it auto, NB temps haven't been a problem. I also took off the NB, and cleaned and reseated it with some AS5.

And when you said stock clocks, what do you mean with your vcore in regards to that? Clock speed affects temp only a tiny bit, when compared to how much vcore affects it. You can keep a vcore constant, and raise cpu speeds sometimes quite significantly, without it even upping temp much.
