Product Keys

Worst case scenario here is I'd have to buy the 64-bit OEM...

Long story short, I was a bit careless and ordered 32-bit Home Professional OEM for Windows 7 last week. Just now realizing as I open the box, my mistake. Obviously, like 99.99% of people out there, I need the 64-bit. I know you can download .ISO files containing what you need to install the OS, but would my OEM 32-bit Windows 7 Professional key work with a 64-bit Windows 7 Professional .ISO?

I've gotten multiple answers.
1). Product Key (because its OEM) is locked to 32-bit.
2). "Hell no!" As long as you download the proper version (Premium, Professional, or Ultimate).

For reference: This is what I accidentally bought.

Really not too upset if I'd have to drop another $140 for the 64-bit... Just seems like so much of a hassle.

Yes it'll work. The license covers both 32 & 64 bit.

^^^^This, the key is tied to version (home, pro etc) not bit.

Thanks for that.

Been told multiple things but that is what I believed.

Key should work on 32/64 bit, even if you change language, ie: english to spanish or viceversa, the key still should work, it ony depends of the version as stated earlier, pro, home, ultimate, etc.

Ahh, yes.

The key did in fact work with the downloadable .ISO file. Was pleasantly surprised, actually.

Yes it will work. I've tried these so many times with the Dell and HP workstations we have here in the office. Sometimes though you may need to perform phone activation AFTER the online activation fails.
