Dude with the OC formula/AC you will have a few slick presets to OC without even trying, its a great board for both the OC beginner and the extreme season'd OCer. I got 4.5gig without even trying with a crappy heatsink/fan combo, and I didn't even bother to see how high I could push it. biggrin.gif

The nice thing about the Formula is it uses top quality digital controller and NEXfets in the PS. A lot of little details make this board top notch that just isn't advertised. Its a board that you really can't get a true appreciation for until you have it in your hands up close and then use. biggrin.gif

Yea, I heard the UD3H is a solid board. What would be the main advantage of the GiGA-Z87X-OC over the UD3H? Higher overclock?

I don't plan on running LN2, but the one of the main reasons I would justify the Maximus is if the integrated audio solution is equal or better than my sounds card (Auzentech Prelude). Plus it has some nice additional things such as bluetooth, wifi, a lot of USB 3.0 ports. Also I think the mobo looks awesome : )

What would be the main advantage of the Maximus over the Hero?

Other than that I think all the boards fit my requirements:

- ATX
- At least 3 PCI slots. 2 for GPUs and one for my sound card
- Good overclocker
- USB 3.0

The boards, I'm currently considering:

GIGABYTE GA-Z87X-UD3H
GIGABYTE GA-Z87X-OC
ASUS MAXIMUS VI HERO
ASUS MAXIMUS VI FORMULA

Grab a UD3H board or Hero if you only want asus mobo and invest in top quality cpu cooler to get that extra potential from 4770k.Board matters less for Haswel if you are not running after theme based rig or want to flaunt high end mobo with cool functions which you are not going to use much or at all.
If you really want to trade in $$ range of Maximus formula then Giga Sniper /Asrock OC boards should be considered to.For best OC'ing Giga X-OC is board to go which is cheap for all OC'ing goodies that comes with that board.
Dedicated sound card is and will always be better than onboard sound till mobo makers put sound card on boards. So use your current sound card or upgrade later on to better DAC/Sound card with any board which is within your price range.
Remember to get best out of Haswel you either need to delid it or get a top cooler, So invest in things that matters most.

This is currently on sale. Thinking about getting 16GB

What do you guys think about this over the Sniper?

Guys,

I think I have my choices narrowed down to the UD3 and the Hero. I think they both have most of the features that I will need. I'm just having a hard time deciding between them.

The Gigabyte is cheaper, I could run hackintosh on it.

The Hero has some nice OC features and looks better.

I dont care about on board audio since I'm keeping my sound card.

I wanna keep my budget around $200 since the boards that cost $250+ don't really have any must have features for me.

What do you guys think Hero or Gigabyte? I believe the Hero is $190 and the Gigabyte is $165. Or let me know if there is anything better at this price range.

I am interested in the difference between Z77 and H77 which one is better and why , and other stuff . I have a model in mind, but first want to find out some things.
