Shocking use of this memory.

Wow! I never thought I would take these cheap 45$ DIMM's so high. I tried forever since 2005 to overclock past 260 cpu fsb, and i could never figure it out.. Somehow I managed to work these things way over my previous attempts... I have not gone for full 1-2 day testing but this testing deffinitly counts for something.

4 hours of memtest, 0 errors, 2.5 hours of prime95, 0 errors. 300FSB, 2700GHZ on AMD64 3000+ Venice, DFI LP UT NF4 Ultra-D. This memory is PNY Optima ddr400 512MBx2 chips. I could never get them above around 170mhz even at 260fsb.

Now I have these DIMMS going at 245Mhz, a Timing of 2.5-4-6-3, memory fsb 166, cpu fsb 300, mem voltage 2.6, cpu voltage 1.64, ldt 1.30, chipset 1.50. It took some time and complications but i did it, i DID IT!. Im so happy, maybe I will hold off on new memory, and get a second 7800GT, SLI GO GO!!!!!

I think I will play with my new OEM 2.6 A64 FX next, see what I can do with it.

Nope not TCCD, this is your cheap 45$ PNY optima dimms, I bought these dimms like over a year and a half ago at compusa, when i was still using an agp video card and a gigabyte mobo. Good ventilation yes. I have a large chenming server case, 2 back fans, 2 front fans, a vent from the FDD to the ground also for those front fans.

Now I am also using the zalman CNPS9500 for my CPU which is by far the best to me. I never see idle temps over 25-27C, load hasnt gone over 42C. That thermaltake typhoon I had before idle was over 30, and load was almost at 50's with settings not even close to these.

When I get my new DFI LP SLI-DR expert board(RMA replaced first one), I am going to instal the evercool VC-RE on the chipset and get rid of that cheap faulty stock HSF. Plus I ordered blue alumminum 3$ heatsinks for my ram to help them out alittle.

Dang. I need to replace the CNPS9500. It doesn't seem to be made for the whole dual-core thing since I can't get a stable 3.0Ghz with it.

2.5-4-6-3... You might want to increase your tRAS timing. It is usually at least tRAS+tRP. Besides tRAS is the least important timing.

Increase tras for..?

Edit: Im already speaking of atleast a semi stabl setting. Why would I want to increase my tras? What would I gain by increasing this? As far as what I posted in this thread. That mention of increasing my tras seemed to come from nowhere... Did not mention any instability or such.

Excuse me if i seem like an ass, I just dont get that last comment.
