My current rig (Updated)

INTERNALS
AsRock 990fx Extreme 9 (Beefy 12+2 board)
AMD FX 8350 @ 4.89ghz on 1.488v (56* under load)
Corsair H80i (MX-4 Thermal Compound)
12GB (4x8GB and 2x4gb) Memory at 1447mhz (1333 OC)
Radeon HD 7950 (1130/1455 1.2v)
2TB Segate 7200 rpm (Boot/Storage/Main drive)
640gb WD Blue (Gameplay recordings)

PERIPHERALS
Rosewill 5.1 Surround Sound headset +HQ Mic
HNC iP221 21.5" 1080p display [5ms, basic IPS display)
Logitech z906 5.1 500 Watt Surround Sound (AMAZING)
Logitech g110 Keyboard
Thermaltake Level 10 M mouse (Designed by BMW)

So, I am looking for an upgrade this holiday season. I'm able to spend about 250 bucks, which could get one of many items. A larger monitor, an SSD, a second GPU (Well...when the 7950's come down from LTC mining haha), a mechanical Keyboard, etc.

What is a good upgrade path? What would you do? I was thinking a new 1440p monitor (I personally can't see the difference in a 120hz TN monitor, or a 1ms response, I am satisfied with a basic, better colored panel) or maybe a mechanical keyboard or an SSD.

(Side note, I know SSD's [Was looking into a 256gb 840 pro) are hella fast, but i have no issues with boot time)

I love that my games are on an SSD. Not waiting long between levels and cut sceens etc gives me more time to play! You could save some cash by getting the EVO. Only difference is that it writes a little slower.

That's what I'd look into, well worth it. Around 300 +/- for a Korean monitor.

Newegg has a Acer monitor for 449 right now, if you prefer name brand.

SSD hands down. Sure a nicer screen is nice, but with the OS on SSD it's like a new machine, and load times for large games like BF4, etc are nice to have reduced.

I was 'fine' with my boot times and game load speed until I experienced the actual night and day difference. I'd rather downgrade my gpu and deal with that then have a less 'snappy' system for day to day use. And my Crucial M4 is one of the veterans now of the SSD world, I'd imagine the newer models have improved quite a bit. thumb.gif

Yeah I found a Samsung IPS X star display, which got great reviews and can overclock pretty well. So even if I can get it to like 96hz or something would be cool. I'm good with 60 tho haha. 300 bucks shipped. Probably gonna get that to help with my Photoshop screen real estate lacking haha
