It is a sad loss but no worries biggrin.gif You can't expect to mod and tinker with stuff without ever breaking anything.
I will try and contact lamptron and see if I can get myself a replacement.

So... couple of hours after the fan controller died I decided to move on to final assembly without it and just put it in when i get a replacement later on. But seems like mobo is having some issues as well.

I already posted about it in this thread: http://www.overclock.net/t/1468909/asus-rog-maximus-vi-impact-code-00

So here's what happened. Maybe someone here has had something similar.

So I was almost done my build today and was doing the final assembly and went to test out all the components and my rig wouldn't start up.

All it does is tries to bootup and shuts down immediately and then loops.

The only indicators as to what's wrong are that the Q-LED flashes 00 right before shutting down and the VGA and DRAM LED flashes on for an instant when I boot.

I checked and reseated the ram since the DRAM LED was on but have no clue what the VGA LED indicates.

Prior to building I have tested all components and throughout the build I have tested them twice and everything was working about 3 days ago.

The motherboard seems to give a code of 00 which I looked up and it means "Not in use" which didn't quite make too much sense.

I looked around on the internet and found that it was a common enough issue. The answers I found were either your CPU is dead or PSU isn't hooked up correctly.

I went down to the nearest computer store and only hooked up the core components and tested all the core components.

The PSU is not the issue and since I custom made all my cables I tested each cable and they are ok as well. I tested the RAM and the CPU on a different rig and they all worked perfectly.

This only means 1 component is the issue and that is the motherboard itself.

So has anyone here have had any experiences similar to mine? Would RMA be the best option for me?

I've already contacted Lamptron and Asus and awaiting response. Looks like the build will be put off for at least couple of weeks to a month until I can get replacement parts.

Sorry hear about that. Check to see if your CPU pins are straight as someone had a similar issue where they thought it was their GPU, PSU or mobo that were causing issues, but it was just a single pin that was slightly bent. Have you tried a CMOS reset as well?

Ironically, I also broke my fan controller last night. I installed it before I put my front radiator on and when I was screwing in the radiator I didn't notice the heatsinks of the fan controller (Bitfenix Recon) were caught by the radiator. So I just kept screwing the radiator in at the front before I heard some loud cracks and that's when I noticed my mistake. The controller is still functional but the screen is cracked and it seems like I can't get any connection through the USB anymore. Lesson learned: install the fan controller last. tongue.gif

Well the weird thing was I was able to boot 3 days ago and I haven't touched the CPU from the mobo since I first put it in there like 3 months ago. So I don't know how something suddenly went wrong. I checked every single pin and seems like they are good. I already put in a RMA request.

It's nice to see people put so much work and effort into their builds. I always have people ask me why everything has to be so different and perfect and custom made. They just don't understand.

I really like your build as I am doing almost an identical one. Apparently with similar problems. I had a error code 55 on my M6I mobo that I rma'd. Also really hoping its not my delidded cpu. I got that error 00 if i tried to post without the cpu installed so I think the cpu is ok and its the board. Gonna keep tabs on your progress

Ya my mobo is with ASUS right now but I can't even check up on my status or look up the RMA apparently doesn't exist.... lol I hope they can get it to me asap.
I first thought it was my CPU as well cause I even chipped the die a little but tested it on 2 other mobos now and works fine thanks god. Would much rather replace the mobo then CPU

Glad your chip is Ok. I'm holding my breath. My board came from Newegg as an open box item thinking i could save a few bucks. I sent it back to them just waiting for the credit so I can get a new in box board this time. After some test fitting I think my project is going to be a nightmare. Good luck moving forward will be watching

small update : FCPU has shipped a replacement fan controller back to me! I am still waiting to hear back from ASUS... I sent the mobo off with 1 day express delivery and ASUS website says that the status will be updates a day after they get my unit. Been more than a week now with no updates... I lost the tracking number so can't even check if it made it to destination ugh frown.gif

Was it sent to Markham? If it was expedited, may want to give them a call just in case.
