sata 150 vs. sata 300

Thread Starter
I have dfi lanparty with nf4 raid .
I started off running 2 WD 80gig sata150 drives in raid 0 and benched around 85000 in sandra.
After adding 2 more identical drives for raid * 4 it benched around 180000 ,BUT-
It appears the northbridge fryed because now after some pretty ugly blue screens a fresh install is not possible with raid-allthougt it will with just strate ATA....
So I am back to I think to just 2 drives in raid 0....
Less taxing on N/B,less taxing on P/S, and less heat=
More practical

But please back to my main Question, will I see better speed out of ATA 300 compared to 150 in raid 0 ?

I researched this a while ago and there was little to no speed difference between 150 and 300 if I remember correctly. The drive cannot read data at 3.0gb/s so a connection of that speed is not needed. You may want to look into getting some sata drives with 16mb cache however.

Edit:link to comparison It shows the sataII being slightly faster. SataII drives are not really that much more expensive than sata150 drives, so you could just get the sataII drive.

jrs is correct. The answer is no. Each HD won't be able to fully utilize each individual 150MB/s link to the RAID controller. You'll be lucky if the HDs can each use 90MB/s. The extra bandwidth of 3GB/s SATA would just be wasted. There is no difference.
Once again...

No difference because they can't even utilize the entire speed/bandwidth. [I probably used the wrong term ]
