pci-e help (seasonic x650 gold)

Okay I'm completely new to building a system so this is probably a easy one to answer. I just got in my seasonic x650 gold psu and I will be sleeving it sometime this week. I noticed on the pci-e connectors that it has one 8 pin for the psu side and then 2 6+2 pins on the other. I will be using a sapphire radeon hd7870 ghz edition card that requires 2 6 pins. Can I use just one of the cables with both 6 pins plugged in or use both cables with one 6 pin on each? Just not sure about how much power it gets through a single cable with 2 6+2 pins. Also is there any harm in removing the extra 2 pin to make it cleaner?

The single PCI-E cable will work.

Use one cable with two 6+2 ends. the 7870 doesn't use much power and it won't over load the single cable with current.

Use one cable and do whatever you think is better to create more open space in the case.

ok....cool, thanks guys. Guess I will just have to cut the second 6 pin and solder it back behind the motherboard somewhere so It doesn't look weird.
