Placement of CPU-waterblock on GPU

Thread Starter
Ok Guys, I have this XSPC RASA waterblock that I would like to mount on my GPU.

My question is though, since the mountingholes for the RASA does not fit the mounting holes in the Graphics card, would it then be possible to rotate the waterbock say 10 degress? Would it still cover the entire GPU, and will this give a huge performance backdraw?

I know that this might be a wauge description, so please tell me If you need more information smile.gif

As long as there is contact on the center chip then you should be good... most video card GPUs are 1/4 the size of a CPU. you should be fine, just get good thermal paste and make sure you get some sort of heatsinks for the memory units! biggrin.gif

Glad to hear smile.gif If they are 1/4 of CPU size I should be able to turn i 45 degrees without problems smile.gif
Heatsink for memories? Won't a 120mm fan be enolugh?

I guess if you're not overclocking it should run cool enough, if you do want to overclock your memory keep an eye on those temps though! tongue.gif

I have just heard rumors that when removing the colling that connected both GPU and VRAM, the VRAM should be overclock able, even when the only cooling would be a fan?

Well, thats true, but with the stock cooler/ shroud on the GPU you have a funnel where cool air is traveling through, when you remove that the heat will be dissipated passively. Now if you have a fan blowing cool air on it you should be fine (which is what you stated you would do) but the overclockability depends on what card you have. If its a high performance gaming card you'll have to be careful with the temps. I don't know exactly how everything will act but this is my guess

As a sidequestion to the original question:
As far as I am concerned, it is not possible to mount a CPU-waterblock as XSPC Rasa with the holes for the GPU cooler. As I have understood it, the spacing between mounting screws is different for CPU and for GPU?

Is there any place where I can find these specific spacings?

The reason I ask, is because I'm trying to make my own version of this bracket: http://cdn.overclock.net/5/59/900x900px-LL-5922af08_900x900px-LL-ccd165ad_brackets.png buth because i can't get in contact with the person who have made the bracket, and because I can't mount a CPU-waterblock that is not an AIO with the bracket

hmm... well if the spacing is different you can always get different springs and/or screws... I'm not quite sure if thats what you were wondering but yeah.

As far as I know, the GPU mounting for the GPU coolers, is in the 53-58mm range, and the mounting for the CPU coolers is in the 72,4-80 range. I don't se how I could mount a CPU-cooler to my GFX card?
