Overclocking Pentium 4 2.2 GHZ?

Thread Starter
Hey, first all, I just wanna say that I've read the faq's and can't find a solution anywhere so far on what the next step would be from where I am currently stuck at.

I am running a Single Core Pentium 4 2.2 GHz currently and want to overclock it just a tiny bit, however when I go into my BIOS I see a menu that says CPU PnP Setup, and when I go there I have two things listed they are:

CPU RATIO = LOCKED
CPU FREQUENCY = 100MHz

How can I unlock the CPU Ratio? I've been looking for updates to my current BIOS but I can't find even a single BIOS update.. I've run a BIOS Scanning program and this is what it shows:

AMIBIOS Motherboard Manufacturer Identification
Version 1.4 (01/12/2004) Copyright 2003 American Megatrends, Inc.

I checked AMIBIOS's website and from what I gathered from there I have to get the BIOS update from ECS's website, but when I go there I cannot determine which one I need or if there is even one on there..

Can anyone please tell me where to go from here, and how to get this CPU Ratio Unlocked so that I can change some values to begin overclocking?

Thanks in advance =)

You cant your P4 is locked and thats just it, you will have to raise it by FREQUENCY is you can

I think the only P4's that are unlocked are engineering samples and maybe 30cappers

Yeah, CPU Frequency says 100MHz but I cannot move up or down, no matter what I press the only thing that remains selected/highlighted is LOCKED and I cannot go up or down to any of the other options

you need to change the control to manual , i cant remember where exactly but its in the same page that shows the fsb , if u cant find it then press shift + f1 at the same time it will show you more options .

I tired booting into the menu again and pressing Shift+F1 and it did nothing. I went through a bunch of other commands and it still didn't allow me to unlock it.

If you can, change the FSB.

Just wondering but is your computer pre-built? Most boards out on the market have some kind of option to OC in the BIOS and usually the only time you cant do it is when you buy it prebuilt.

I cannot say 100% for certain but as far as I know it is most likely pre-built.

I have heard that updating my BIOS might give me more options than I currently have, I am going to try updating my BIOS if nothing else works.
