[PG] Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Coming To PC/Steam "Any Day Now" - Page 15

I can understand it's not his responsibility, but it just seems a tad 'mean' to tease people with a fix and tell them they can't have it.
Perhaps he feels that if he does their dirty work, then devs will just keep doing things this way?

Either the fix was not complete (for all resolutions) or he does not want devs to relay on him.

What I really can't wrap my head around is that if thees fixes are so "easy" to make that an hobbyist with no documentation on the engine can make them in this short of an time then why is it so god damn hard for the devs them selves to implement them. I just don't get it.

Same thing with so many other crappy ports. Sometimes enabling higher resolutions and other goodies only takes a simple .ini tweak.

I don't think Durante is a simple hobbyist.
This port is Platinum Games first, and they don't usually make pc editions of their games.
Rising has been out for few days, so I think they will add higher resolution by including it in a patch meant to fix bugs.
If it was a easy thing they would have done it in first place. Doesn't make sense for them to not include higher resolutions if it can be fixed within a hour.
I think their reasoning for not including higher resolution is that few gamers play at a resolution above 1080.

But the request for higher res has been passed onto the team. To make it happen we can only go to Konami facebook/twitter and request it. The more people requesting it the more likely it will happen.
I think 30 people commenting Konami Twitter AND Facebook for higher resolution would be enuff to make it happen.

Great game so far, port works perfectly fine. Buttery smooth on medium with an 8350 and a 6870, no bugs or anything. And it feels amazing to play. And to the people saying it's a button masher, stop playing on easy.

Please ask Konami on twitter/facebook for higher resolutions and spread the word to others about doing this, so that it can happen. There are alot of people who want higher resolution but I think most of them refrain from asking for it on Konami's social media pages.

Well yeah most people don't play above 1080p but hard coding resolution options is something that should have died ages ago. The correct way to do it is to have the game look up the supported resolutions form the drivers. That way any and all resolutions will be selectable in the options.

At the end of the day resolution tends to be very strait forward to configure even when the rendering is split in to an rendering resolution and an GUI resolution. At the end of the day its still only a mater of bumping up the internal rendering resolution to the desired level. This can even be done on old PS1 games when running on an emulator for crying out loud. 3D rendered stuff is resolution independent so in pretty much all cases it can be set to be rendered at any resolution. The problem only ever is the 2D GUI and if that works at an different resolutions then its most probably configured to be scalable and work with any resolution at least as long as the aspect ratio is 16:9

Sure there might be times when running high resolutions might have a crippling effect on performance due to how some assets scale but that's no excuses not to have the option available. 4xSSAA will bog down most systems but its sill something that is offered as an option in games as there are people with the GPU grunt to use said settings.

With other stuff like KB/mouse controls, FPS locks, ect. You might be able to make a case that it was tricky to implement but with resolution I just can't see the reasoning other than the devs being lazy or not thinking things through.

Sweet. Wish i could use that, but i'm forced to run the game as admin(win8.1 bug, can't save progress otherwise) and RP won't work with "elevated privileges".

I don't know how but I managed to have the game run without the admin option turned on and the save games working correctly in windows 8.1. I was running the game as admin for a while though and then turned it off to enable radeonpro. Not sure what I did really but it works.
