New Videocard. ASUS 7970. HDMI question

Thread Starter
So I recently bought a 7970 to replace my 680GTX, and now I have a problem where previously my graphics card had HDMI out for my TV. But the 7970 has 3 displayport ports. I know they make HDMI to DVI adapters, and HDMI to displayport adapters. But from what I can tell, neither was designed for audio as well as video. Am I really stuck without sound on my TV?

Just like HDMI, DisplayPort is designed as a versatile multimedia connection that supports both video and audio. The AMD drivers provide audio via DisplayPort just as they do for HDMI. In theory, an adapter that supports both active audio and video conversion from DisplayPort to HDMI will work.

Here is one such adapter: http://www.startech.com/AV/Displayport-Converters/DisplayPort-to-HDMI-Active-Video-and-Audio-Adapter-Converter-DP-to-HDMI-1920x1200~DP2HDS

In addition to what tompsonn said, a dvi-hdmi adapter will allow you to transmit sound. My gtx 560 has a mini hdmi port and i dont have any mini-hdmi cables so I used a dvi-hdmi adapter to get sound on my tv.
