So i decided about 2 months ago that it was time to update my computer from what it currently was (being an Asus m3a32mvp-deluxe + phenom 9550 and radeon 4870 1gb....and XP) to a more current setup.

Now i had my old machine in a Thermaltake Armor LCS which served no purpose other than being roomy and looking cool and being quiet. (i bought it before i really knew what to do with it and how to overclock.) Everything went well considering it was built in about 2007-2008 and then it was time to move up to windows 7 and an ssd for the battlefield 3 release. This went well up until i finished uni had some spare cash and heard about Battelfield 4. I thought hmmmm ok I'll just get a new MOBO and CPU and a new GFX card and call it a day, reusing the old case and hdd's and ram etc. until i felt like doing more.

I weighed up my options and thought well i wanna get a significant amount of use out of this machine over the next few years so why don't i do it properly so it went from being an upgrade to becoming a whole new build, (i was also hoping to pass my old computer on to my younger brother...didnt work out but I'll explain why later.)

This was the initial parts list;

Intel i5-4670K
MSI Z87-G45 GAMING
Corsair Vengeance 1600Mhz 8 Gb
1 X EVGA GTX 760 Superclocked 2Gb
Samsung EVO 120Gb SSD
WD Green 2Tb HDD
Thermaltake Urban S71
Reusing my Coolermaster Hybrid 850W PSU
Blu Ray Drive - Pioneer
Corsair H100i

I went to my local computer store that i know and trust and tell the guy what i wanna do and meanwhile i was also researching reviews and i ended up changing a few little bits.
I ended up getting a second EVGA GTX 760 Superclocked 2Gb as i found that bang for buck for myself gaming at 1080p i would be better off doing this than getting a single GTX 770, plus i wanted SLi. I also changed my case to the Corsair Obsidian 750D as i looked into features and build quality and boy im glad i did. So here were the parts as they came from the shop.

The build was straight forward only hiccup i faced was where my wireless AC card was going to go, i ended up putting it in a 1x pci slot as when it was in the 3rd pci-e slot it turnred my slots into 8x4x4x config which killed the sli.

Loving the case and components so far. I've hit 4.5Ghz on the cpu at 1.25volts and 50mhz+ core and 550Mhz+ memory on each card, I'll see if i can get more from the cards when i put in my custom loop. I've also just received my Corsair Link Cooling and Lighting kit so I'll put that in when i get my loop done and see how that works.

I was originally going to just loop the cards for water but i thought if i am doing that i might as well loop the cpu too, being inspired by @brandon6199 and @Jamaican Reaper.

I'll post here when i go forth with the build. cheers for checking out my build. advice and opinions are always welcome.

Nathan

EDIT: I'll fix rotated images tomorrow when i have time...thumb.gif

Just got home tonight 12.30am Sunday night and my package arrived with my XSPC Photon 170 Res/pump combo and XSPC locking ring and also my red led's, I'll take pics tomorrow in the light, now i can start buying everything else biggrin.gif:D:D cannot wait.

Sidenote; The res is much bigger than i thought it would be. quite impressive drool.gif

Here's the Res/Pump combo with the LED's and the new lock ring. I also took some pics of my corsair link kit too, not sure if that was worth it now that I'm not going to be using my h100i. doh.gif
Box opening and warning (Click to show)
New lock ring and led's (Click to show)

Vertical view (Click to show)
Corsair Box (Click to show)
Commander (Click to show)
Cooling and lighting kit (3 temp probes and 3 LED's) (Click to show)
Back of the commander (Click to show)

Hope to be getting Alphacool XT45 360 and the 280/240 soon, pics will also come.

Is there any advantage/disadvantage if i wanted to mount a 240mm on the bottom instead of a 280mm in the front, as i want to keep my hdd bay below my 5.25" bay??

Great stuff! I'll be taking notes from how you end up doing your cooling in the 750D. It sounds like we're doing very similar things.

I just posted a build thread myself and will probably bounce a few ideas back and forth with you. Hopefully the 750D is as awesome as it looks!

I just subscribed! You do the same, please?

Yeah will do smile.gif . Its been amazing so far even with the h100i and reference cooled graphics cards it has plenty of airflow. The build quality is amazing. I cant fault it at all. Once i get all the blocks and rads ill chuck it all in to dummy fit and see how it will all work together.

Ill be happy to bounce ideas ive also followed brandons build guide for his build as he is using the same res and pump as me. smile.gif

Ill check yours out now.

Cheers,
Nathan
