It appears we were partially right as the PhysX update for Ubisoft’s title is now live. This patch is 700MB in size and offers three PhysX options: Off, Low & High.

So, this new update introduces APEX Particles that are manipulated by external forces such as gravity, wind, character movement, and explosions, courtesy of the APEX Turbulence system.

As always, this update will be auto-downloaded via UPLAY the next time you start Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.

The smoke is just overdone! Not that physx doesnt look good, it does in some games but it surely doesn't look good in AC IV.

Also, what other effects are included with this patch, except smoke? rolleyes.gif

The only new effects I've noticed is water splashing when diving in water and the drips off the character when you run out of the water after swimming.

I totally agree. For the first time I think they overdid it with the physx. I mean you cant even see who your fighting for crying out loud! it would have been better if they kept the apex and just toned down the overall smoke volume. THis is comming form a guy whole loves physx too.

I think Batman Arkham Origins had the same issue. Loads of smoke in places there was no reason to have it.

PhysX is just like all the other game technology 'features'. Can be extremely good if used judicially and with restraint, but ruins things when overdone just for the sake of it.
