Actually it's a $400 MSRP, I got my 290 reference for $399. $580 is more than the original price of the reference 290X.

The MSRP of the Sapphire Tri-X R9 290 is $450. Only the reference R9 290s carry a $399.99 MSRP

The Tri-X has an MSRP of $450. If you guys all complain to Newegg, maybe they will do something- it takes a couple of minutes to send an email. Worst case- nothing happens, but nothing lost either. I told them I am taking my business to Amazon and they offered me a newegg store credit which I refused anyway.

Hard to believe that people who bought at launch got the best deal in months!

I turned down a reference R9 290 for $368 shipped last month (new) -_- I would have had to install a better cooler, but still.

So is the Hynix memory better?

And the temps on the sapphire look better as well - cant complain there thumb.gif
post #388 of 751
Yes, most of the times Hynix clock higher, for example there is one user on Youtube, which 290 goes to 1700 without any issues, the performance scaling is also linear, so no errors there. Pretty sure there are only handful of users who got Elpida which can hit that speeds.

The owner of the 290 tri x on this forum, has his over 1550/1600 i think, with Elpida like 1450 is the general max. Its to much to be counted as coincidence while having quite a few Hynix which hit over 1600, and many Elpida around 1450.
