Mine also has bent fins, I just assumed I had bent them somehow when I was trying to pull the heatsink off, your post leads me to believe otherwise. I can't imagine they would impact performance to any measurable degree, am I right?

As long as the fin is still in contact with the heatpipe, I don't think any effect on the temps should be noticable. Also in my case, only the first 1cm or so is bent. Beyond the first heatpipe it's perfect. So yeah it's most likely purely cosmetic.

I got weird throttling after +50mv on my 290x Trix (50G). Currently i'm on 1100mhz +25mv +50%(74 max, 80 vrm1), but as soon as i raise voltage to +50mv it starts throttling to ~1000Mhz and even lower with +100mv. I don't think it's normal since card is not hitting any thermal limits and also my PSU is TT Toughpower 750w(up to 900w) GOLD. More like some kind of voltage protection, dunno, wonder if i should flash asus bios or something?

This is a nice card. I have it as top card in xfire with a Powercolor PCS+ 290

Temps after a 50 loop of Metro LL bench at maxed settings

Temps after playing Far Cry 3 all night

So 71c core, 71c vrm1, 56c vrm2 on a heat stress test as the top card in a crossfire inside a silenced mid tower cooled by undervolted Noctua fans.

And in-game temps of 64c core, 57c vrm1, 47c vrm2.

Ambient ~22.

Hey can anyone with a Tri-X 290 mine for 10 minutes~ and then touch the PCI-E connectors and tell me if theyre really hot? Mine has melted 2 cables already T_T would be really great to hear from someone else with this card.

That really doesn't sound normal, my reference 290 didn't even hot enough to do that.

Amazon hooked me up with a return (even though I'm outside of 30 days). It's also black screening after 5 minutes or so of gaming. I probably won't be able to get another at the same price point for a month or two, but I'd prefer waiting on buying another new one than to RMAing with Sapphire.

I havent come across a single 290 that overheated so much to do that kind of damage. Wow..
Gigabyte's Windforce version of the 290X is better than the TRI X in terms of heat output and noise?
