Video editing $7k budget - Page 20

Adobe Premiere pro 2.0 is HD?

http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere/

It also has a cool new feature with multi-angled scenes playing that you might be interested. What software are you looking to get for editing?

I do see what you are saying about stability. I was just checking to see if your church did have HD. On a side note The thing you said about having HD on non-HD devices is true and untrue at times. It depends on the quality of the Video you are playing on the device because you can encode a video to MAX the device's settings . Good luck with whatever you build. I'll see if i have time to put a server based PC together. If you do have any questions feel free to PM me!!

you have to buy a special editing card to do it in Adobe premier pro 2.0 like the matox ones but it can be done. but we would probably only use premier for awhile untill we get Avid as that is a much more proven HD editing system.

Going back to the mac vs pc argument: why not use both on a pc based system http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page you get to pick and choose which OS you use without having to buy from apple - I don't know if it's legal but I can't see why it wouldn't be.
Also why don't you consider 1 big tft screen (say dell 24") and a second smaller 1 (20" or so).
Someone might have mentioned it already but don't forget a sound card, if you're doing really high end video editing then you need the sound to go with it and you can't edit really hi-def surround sound audio with onboard sound. I'm guessing you've already got a decent amp and speaker system...
Have fun with the system...

P.S. If you tell people that you're buying for a church they'll probs give you a discount - but I guess you've already thought of that

it is illegal to put MAC osx on a PC we went over this before and i was gona do it till i found that out. we allready have some really nice sound card and speakers, and that is a great idea about telling people about it bieng for a church because they just might give us a discount i wonder if i could do that with new egg though.

except then i would have to buy a mac... and i would get like half the power for the same price, we went into the mac store today and they said that they couldn't make anything that powerful for anywhere near that price. so i guess a mac is out of the picture unless you guys know somewhere where i can get a great price on an extremely powerful mac. i would be open to a mac with close to the same power at close to the same price.

no RAID??? it is extremely difficult editing HD video without RAID that's like half the power in that system for a little more in price.
