Downloaded it and it seems to be running fine. Right now it's at 8.5 min and things appear normal. I see the earth in color on the top rotating and zooming in and out, and black and white relief map on the bottom, it looks cool. What does this tell us?

edit: I stopped it after 21min. Seems to run fine. However I did notice a high pitched squeal/whine that would drone when this program was open... coming from inside the case. It sounds like a fan except it isn't the fan. I stuck my finger on it gently to slow it down so I could be sure. I also noticed the pitch of the whine rose and fell at the same rate as the framerate displayed on the screen... what's that all about??????

Benchmark was 1956, with mp3s playing and MS word open.

Actually I'm stupid and I measured it wrong. If you measure red wire to yellow wire it's 7v. Black to red is 12v and black to yellow is 5v. 12v-5v=7v so my power supply is right on the money actually. I just measured it again and the actual numbers were 12.04v and 5.02v, how's that for accurate? Still wish my vid card would work right.... I updated the mobo bios today and that didn't seem to do anything. The water in far cry is still opaque and GTA runs lousy. What gives?

Did you update your Chipset drivers before you installed your 7900GS?
The high pitched noise, is it a screech or a whine? Could be a loose CAP.
You have an extra PSU correct? If so why not jump it on and use it as a dedicated PSU for your Vidcard, this would at least rule out your PSU as the problem or confirm it.

Hi everyone. Okay. 2 weeks later..... I have RMAed the card. Today I got a brand new, brand new XFX 7900GS in the mail. Guess what? Same thing. Performance is lousy in GTA San Andreas and the water in Far Cry isn't see through.

Things I did:
1. uninstalled previous drivers and used driver cleaner pro
2. installed the card
3. told the BIOS that PCI Express is the primary graphics adapter
4. installed factory drivers from the included CD

I am clueless. It's the motherboard????? Maybe? But it should work fine....

Dude. Someone illuminate this situation for me please. You'd be my hero forever.

2nd card same problem? Im willing to bet that your asrock doesnt like the 7900GS.. Those asrock boards with both pci-e and agp are sketchy at best.

I can recomend the board i have in my sig, its cheap and its a monster overclocker. Was like $70 at new egg.

Keep the gpu and get another motherboard. You will be happier im sure
