Homemade heatsink - Page 4

Thread Starter
What I read is Zalman's passive cooling case still can get hot, and the instructions recommend using a floor fan to cool it if necessary.

Adding more copper, fins, pipes aren't the solution. The solution is getting the hardware manufacturers to build more thermal efficient electronics, not just faster ones. They're playing the "I have a bigger Johnson than you" game, while everyone else has to pay that extra $20/mon or so to the power company on top of $1200 or so for a new system every 2 years.

Hurry up ASUS with a modular design!!

ADDED: Found 16g 4'x4' of 304 #9 (mirror finish) stainless on the cheap (less than $40/w shipping). That would give sis a workout to fabricate....hehehe.

The zalman case was just an idea, you dont have to make it completely passive. im sure you were already planning on putting fans in your case. but if you could incorporate some of those heat pipes into the side panels it may help a bit in your quest for thermal ecstasy. no need for a floor fan lol =-)
