not really. It will do 1080p, barely. You may see some skipping or jerking.

I have a g1610 in my htpc and it plays 1080p flawlessly on my st60. Heck I can even have multiple video downloads going at the same time I'm watching a movie. this is with no video card. And good blue ray rips. Around 8gig. I was sceptical when I fist ordered it. But after having it for a while. It really is all you need. Also have 4gigs of ram.

thumb.gif Thank a lot for the input. I went and bought a g3220 in stand, upgrade to Haswell. It was hard finding cheap mini ITX board in Canada, it took me a couple of days and i found a Asus that wasn't in the 150$++ like all the others.

hey guys,

I wanted to give you a update biggrin.gif I got my order finally.

  • SanDisk SDSSDP-064G-G25 64GB
  • Antec ISK 110 VESA mITX Tower Case
  • Intel Pentium G3220 Dual Core 3.0GHZ
  • ASUS H81I-PLUS/CSM
  • 2x2gb ram that i already had from older pc

using the stock intel cooler... it is silent!
it can stream 1080p format with no lag at all. I ripped a bluray,,, 40-50gb file to test it out. I just need to set it to run using only a Tv remote with the usb Flirc thumb.gif

no need for 4K LOL

I usually go with intel but i'm curious about the amd apu , what's the difference between the one you suggested and the one i showed ( g3220, g1620, g2020) ?

this may be a little late.........................................

however

the NUC does have an ethernet port. it also has a wifi card slot if you choose to put one in in the future.

i have the newest Haswell Nuc, i have it paired with a small 4 bay HDD box, with as of now 2 4TB hdd inside. i have a mix of about 790 DVD and Bluray on the drives. the NUC has an i5 with the integrated hd5000 gpu. i installed 8gb of HyperX memory and a 128GB plextor mSATA drive, running windows 7 and using XBMC for media.

this little NUC works flawlessly!!! its handled EVERY movie i have thrown at it. and as for heat?............its BARELY warm to the touch even after a 3 hour movie. also you can go into the NUC bios and adjust the cpu fan all you want. and yes its VERY QUIET.

i WHOLEHEARTEDLY recommend the intel NUC to anyone wanting a small form factor HTPC.

heres a pic of my nuc and the hdd bay. you can see by the dvd cases above that this is in fact a small HTPC.
