wii HOT! HOT! HOT!

Thread Starter
I've noticed that the Wii heats up pretty good. I was wondering if anyone has gotten a cooling solution and if that has made any difference. Or has anyone had any problems with the heat. Respond and tell me your stories.

Unless the system is restarting I wouldn't worry about it. And you should either keep it on the stand on a flat, hard surface, or lay it horizontally with plenty of airflow. The EB Games near my house had their Wii overheat because they stuck it in a closed plastic box and left it running. No airflow = overheating.

The stock fans should keep it cooled reasonably well. And in idle mode while it does run hot, it doesn't run hot enough to cause any damage.

There have been no complaints of the Wii overheating, so just keep it in a good open area and you should be fine.

I just stuck my hand on the side of my Wii and it was pretty hot (idle mode for the past few hours). I don't think anything will really happen though. They were designed to be able to deal with high temps.

I haven't noticed any heat....but...I haven't really touched anything other than the eject button..lol. I dont' even know what this... "idle mode" is...haha.

I just turn it off with the remote when I'm finished...

Hasn't "overheated" or anything on me...

When the orange light is on after you turn the console off, it is in idle mode. WiiConnect24 still runs, which generates heat. And the fans don't run to save power and keep it quiet to give the impression that it actually is off. Touch the left side of the Wii after you've had it off for a while. There will be very noticeable heat there.
