well after way to many years my sli 480s are starting to **** the bed.....so i am getting a classy 780 but the problem is i really cant seem to find out information if the the Aquacomputer Kryographics 780 blocks fit or not...im trying to stay away from the ek classy blocks cause i dont like the metal plate on it...
Well, in the coolingconfigurator EK states that only their classi blocks will fit.
This can either be because they rather sell the slightly more expensive classi blocks or because the blocks really don't fit.

I'd say it's the latter, though you could of course compare the images of the classi vs the normal block but you could also hit up shoggy in case he can either confirm or deny whether or not the kryographics block will fit.

The Kryographics 780 is only for reference PCB's

The only full cover blocks for Classified PCB's are made by EK and Swiftech/EVGA but I don't know if the Swiftech block is sold separately.

The metal plate on the front of the Ek Classified block is a requirement for getting water to the VRM's and back because there is a big row of caps on the board to cross.

Only EK-FC780 GTX Classy and the Swiftech block fit the aforementioned card. Believe me, we wouldn't be doing the stainless steel plate if there wasn't a necessity for it.

There is nothing to worry about. Practically every modern CPU waterblock contains a SS constriction plate in direct contact with the cooling fluid. My EK Supremacy is 2 years old now and I opened it up this week when I rebuilt my loop and there is no problem with the Nickel. Just use a simple corrosion inhibitor as most manufacturers recommend and there should be no problems.

The old problems with EK plating have been much over hyped and have become a folk lore of sorts whereby a simple problem that only caused an appearance issue with no functional problems gets turned into something that destroys other components or causes leaking or steals your girlfriend or other such sorcery.
Its also quite illogical because in a different situation XSPC produced a bay reservoir device that had an obvious design and materials defect that caused common leaking, leading to actual real damage and yet there was not the same indignant outrage in the community against the brand. Go figure.

The fact is EK is the biggest maker of modern parts with the biggest range of products, and one of the best support and warranties available.

Pretty much this.

SS is used extensively in water blocks, from jet plates to whole GPU top plates......
