will mounting LCD on wall ruin house value?

Thread Starter
hey guys im going to get a westinghouse 37" LCD (LVM-37W3 model to be exact ) .. im really interested in mounting it on my wall because my room is small and i would like to save space and force my audience to watch it as far as possible (a lot of my friends like to sit up close, especially when gaming).. my question is: is it easy/cheap to repair the holes that the TV mount will leave? i dont want buyers of this house (if we ever sell it) to be turned off by obvious repairs in the wall.. it's my parents! is it easy to patch up drywall without any notice of it?? is it expensive? thanks.

What's the house market value?

And dry wall can be repaired to undetectable.

So, $100 to a reputable dry waller isn't out of hand?

It shouldn't be a problem.
As long as you aren't using rough screws through the wall, there's no problem.
They can be filled out easily.

also, how far apart are the studs in the wall AT MOST? i dont want to mount the TV to the wall and when i put the hammer down the TV falls off and rips a huge chunk of drywall off, will i find sufficient studs to work with? my house doesnt need to have meet any certain requirements before being able ot mount an LCD on its wall does it?

Dude, hit the studs with 3" drywall screws; or get the locking bolt through screws.

Do ya need a link?

studs are 16" on center, you can use a stud finder to find the outside of them. almost all 2 x 4's I have worked with are 1.5" thick. So measure in 3/4" from your out side mark to find the center of the stud.

Also you need to use a tv mount. They usually come with lag bolts that will hold better then screws.
