I received an iPad Air for Christmas too from my older brother. I thought what am I going to use this for. LOL. I really don't see myself really using it. Told my brother to return it and help me pay the bills instead.

Tablets are not marketed towards 18-25 year old males, they are marketed towards non tech-savy people that like simple and reliable interaction with a computer. Most people only use their laptops for social networking email and watching/reading media, which is exactly what tablets do. People like us that use computers for much much more would never need or want a tablet.

All the hype comes form the fact that we are the minority, 90% of people in the world like things simple, and thus the market is bigger. I hate to sound elitist here but quite frankly, tablets are for the people that don't appreciate the power that they have in their hands with a computer.

Try putting some movies on your Tablet and watching them while waiting for a bus, train, in a doctors office, or if you are at a job that can be slow at times. You will notice a difference compared to your phone. Also, various Social Networking is much easier on a tablet that on a phone in some instances. If you have GPS on your tablet it can definately be easier to use that than your phone depending on the situation.

I bought and Android Tablet and have never looked back. Its been an invaluable tool for me at work and at home.

Right... And I suppose form factor and portability isn't a factor at all when purchasing? I've got a bunch of desktops, laptops and tablets and they each have their own purpose. Granted, for me the tablets are pretty much overpriced comic/ebook readers but what the heck. I love my comics and books.

Your right the other major factor is the size and portability of these devices. But i personally use my phone if I need something portable. Having something in between my small portable not so powerful phone and my large powerful laptop/desktop seems unnecessary. I do apologize for how i worded my last statement, it was poorly worded and can very easily have come off as offensive.
