Too hot?

Thread Starter
Hey im pretty new to overclocking, so I'm wondering if someone in this forum can help me out.
I just overclocked my e6400 to 2.8 GHz, with a 350 fsb and 8x multiplier. Temps range from 40 degrees idle to 57 under heavy load. Are these temperatures too hot? My cooling system is a copper and aluminum 120mm Zalman cpu fan. Wish I wasn't a noob...

57C is a little warm at 100% Full load. 60c Is the thermal guideline for that CPU. You may wish to lower your overclock until you have gotten a better cooler.

Agreed. The Tuniq tower is the way to go if you want to stay with Air cooling. It's pretty hard to find at the moment but SVC.com usually have a couple in stock.

They do seem a bit too hot. My E6300, without A/C and high ambient temperatures, runs at 3.01Ghz at 45C during Extreme Load. My idle is 35. I do not know who could be the cause, either the HSF or a proper seating.

Let's try removing posibilities. What is your actual Vcore? And is your HSF seated properly?

How can temperatures be good if I have MORE than his overclock, yet much more less temperatures? He has a mild overclock, and his chip is alredy at the limit! >.<. Not what I call safe!!

i did make my voltage a tad higher...should i try to lower it?
also, how should i test "full load" - should i just run prime95?
Yes, try lowering your Vcore all you can. For stress testing your system, you can try and run Dual Prime 95's or Orthos.
