As stated above I have an x800xl, what I want to know is if overclocking this cards core from 390-420 and mem from 490-520 is worth the potential risk of damage, will the performance boost really be that significant.
There shouldnt be any damage done providing you have good cooling plus that is not a very high clock, I have had my x800gto at 600/600 but that was with the AC ati silencer
X800 XL cores don't overclock much because of techincal limitations but whatever you can squeeze out of it while maintaing stability and a decent temperature will add to its performance and is not dangerous.
i will re-affirm that the r430 core used in the x800xl series is a bad bad bad overclocker. they don't even use good memory to overclock with on the x800xl series.
its just a pretty decent card for stock purposes.
