[TPU] "Haswell-E" to Launch in Q3 2014. 5930K 8 Core "Around $600" - Page 32

Whoa... I see early adoption being outrageously expensive. I might have to wait a little while to build a system to such specs. "i7-5930k - $599; compatible motherboard - $500; fastest DDR4 Ram - $400; finding anything that actually requires all of this - Priceless."

Unless it will be making more money for your business or you have more projects than your workstation can keep up with, nothing is "required"...w/e stresses such high end systems in most of the forums are badly optimized games, and artificial boundaries: "3x 1440p isn't smooth for me" or "if I don't do 120fps minimum on my 120Hz 1080p my eyes hurt".

Would this be worth the upgrade over a i7-4770k?

It all depends on what you use your PC for. If you use lots of CPU intensive programs that take advantage of multiple cores or tasks like video encoding a lot then yes, it would be worth it.

since the material in haswell is of lesser quality, unless you are running your machine 24/7 you dont haswell e. for gaming and recreational stuff 4770k will suffice. if you are a pro and make living of it and can afford it why not wink.gif

Like the others said, unless you're doing something really CPU intensive, I don't see any reason why you would need to upgrade. Beside, we're looking at what? 600$ CPU, 400-500$ motherboard and DDR4 at undetermined price. It's a lot of money for an upgrade. I'd start a "new" build at that point instead of talking about upgrading!

I'm wondering if all this points to a future 6-core on socket 1150 or its successor... hmm....
